24 Weeks Pregnant Update: Finally A Great Week!

Happy Saturday! It’s time for another pregnancy update. This week marked 24 weeks pregnant and I am absolutely ecstatic. We have been stressed for weeks now because of the risk of preterm labor I have been dealing with. Thankfully the 24th week is when most babies reach the viability level so even though we want her cooking a lot longer we have been able to relax a little bit.

How’s Baby?

Baby is the size of an eggplant!

This week has actually been significantly better than previous weeks! I’ve greatly decreased the amount of contractions that I’ve had and my hyperemesis gravidarum is much better controlled. I’ve almost been able to eat somewhat normally!

Working out and running still. I’m feeling a lot better but still do not have the all clear from my doctor to workout and I honestly doubt I’m going to get it anytime soon, but we shall see.

Sleep/Crazy Dream Recap

Sleep has been a bit iffy but mostly because my toddler has had a weird week whenever it comes to sleep. He has never really slept through the night completely, but he has been waking up 3-4 times a night this week so it’s been an adjustment.

I’ve had a couple crazy dreams. The one that stood out the most is my dream where, I heard my son James crying in the middle of the night from his room but he was actually laying in bed with me. Then I woke my husband up (in the dream) and asked what was going on but he jumped out of bed because there was an old lady looking through our bed room window. After that I called the police to come and get the lady to go away. What was so odd is neither of us acted like it wasn’t normal! It was like “oh I guess we have to get her to go away again.”

I definitely woke up wondering what the heck that was about afterwards!

Food Cravings

I’m still wanting salads and fruit more than anything. I honestly think that has more to do with the insanely hot weather rather than the pregnancy but either way I’ll take it!

Food Aversions

I’m still not a fan of most meats. I don’t really want much to do with it!

Still no true exercise. I’m allowed to walk short distances now which is nice because I can’t get out with my little man. Plus I’ve been spending a lot of time in the pool with James because it’s so hot here.

I feel like this pregnancy is going by so slowly, but I think I’ll be able to suck it up if I have some more good weeks like this one!

  1. I love this post. It makes me remember when I was pregnant in the hot summer in Arizona and pretty much ate cold oranges for a few months straight. At least you have the pool to stay cool and fit.

    1. I lived in Phoenix for about a year and I honestly don’t know that I could have survived it pregnant. It doesn’t have the humidity like we do in Arkansas but whenever it’s 120 degrees in the summer the humidity doesn’t really even matter anymore.

    1. I hate that in between period where you don’t look pregnant you just look like you ate too much! I saw a shirt that says “I swear I’m pregnant, I didn’t just eat too many burritos” and I think every pregnant woman needs one haha!

  2. Wow that’s huge! I bet your baby is a happy one enjoying baby time inside your tummy. We can’t wait to see baby soon!

  3. I understand wanting to reach that viability marker. I went into preterm with my second at 20 weeks, so I totally get it, but Braidy made it full term. Just take it easy and don’t do anything strenuous. Accept help! 😉

  4. Oh man does this bring back memories x3. My sister is just a few weeks behind you with her 3rd baby and she is sprouting quite the belly! Congrats, wishing you a safe pregnancy!

  5. I love the toe picture, lol! Too cute! I am so glad that you are over that scary hump. I was always too terrified during my pregnancies to enjoy them.

    1. I feel your pain! At about 6 months pregnant with my first I was buying some maternity jeans and the lady at the checkouts said “are you sure you need these, it looks like you only have a week or two left.” I was mortified!

  6. I always wished someone had warned me about how STRESSFUL pregnancy can be! There’s so many things to worry about, and if you lose a lot of sleep (which I did during both pregnancies) it only exacerbates the worrying you can already attribute to all of those hormonal changes! Definitely not one of the most enjoyable aspects of expecting.
